I got it hoping it would keep my apartment cool-ER. I expected it to keep it comfortable, not cold. I also had a bit of a problem with size. The only window that opens in my house is a vertical sliding window, which Air Conditioners I can afford, aren’t made for.
Once I received it, I started to assemble and install. Originally I was going to leave the extensions off, since my window was only 18 inches wide, but after I got it and thought about it more, I realized they could still help keep it supported. So I put them on. They are about an inch inside the window, to help it from falling out. Also, I originally hoped to buy some wood and put that above it, but once I saw how sturdy it was with just the extensions, I put cardboard above it and plastic taped around the edges with duct tape. Very red neck, I know. It’s sealed with the help of some other bits that came with it to help seal it.
I installed it a little over 12 hours ago and my home is cold. I live in a house above a garage. Just a large living room, average bathroom and small bedroom. It’s 621 SQ Feet.(assuming I did the math correctly. 23 x 27 feet.) This is total, but there are 3 separate rooms here. (Also, I have a low ceiling, only 6.5 Feet.) I placed it in my only opening window in the living room and it keeps the bathroom cold which is closest, and my bedroom pretty cold too, which is farthest. A lot larger than advertised for. I didn’t care, I needed a little cooler than I had. Before, it was hotter inside than it was outside. I have it on high, but will consider turning it down, which I never thought I would do. I like the cold. It’s THAT cold.
For $110, I got an amazing air conditioner that perform WAY better than expected/advertised and it got here exceptionally fast too. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it with standard shipping and handling. I am a very happy costumer.

24 hour on HI-Cool/HI-Fan settings – kWh amounted to abt 9/10 additional kWh usage – Keep in mind we had to use a WEST window – outside temps were 98/103 RF – highest humidity outside yet when first started up Wed. Evening –
All inside humidity ‘already removed’ w/50 pint Dehumidifier – so hot dry air did cool faster.
After 24 hrs ‘full blast’ [even pumping air w/fan into bedroom at night] it reduced the inside temps from 91 down to a very comfortable 75/76 over an 18 hr period. IT is so quiet one almost has to walk up to it to hear it!
We would pretty much estimate at this point that it will add an average of 8/9 kWh [or less] to our normal 24 hr of 11/12 – [factor in your own normal 24 hr - as ours is very low, 2-3 loads lndry/Using Flavorwave* oven - NO new elec. stove usage - and slow cookers and microwave keeps ours way down]
Your initial usage may vary from this 24 hr if in a shaded window and will depend on Ur inside humidity – how much it has to extract –
It will get even more usage come Sat/Sunday – never thot we would say we’d love some snow ’bout now!

Amazon description is as close to correct as it gets – [Adding H/W/D] and wgt correction –
[13.2 HIGH x 16 WIDE x 12 inches DEEP ; [36 pounds w/shipping wght of 20#]
Weight is actual 42# – Definitely helps to have 2 [if seniors] people install]
We have set into a 34″ wide ‘plastered CASEMENT opening – metal window’ – NO Frame – no full sill to outside – only inside sill- so added a 3/4 thick 4 inch wide pc of cedar – butted right up against the bottom metal of this window. Pix
9 inches of the 12 or so depth are on outside – see pix

as well as the pleated panels – fitting nicely into place -[Foam stripping under]
No way to anchor as wood or vinyl windows can be done – BUT the parts to do this
for wood and vinyl are included.

Fired up at 6:20 PM last night w/temps INSIDE ranging from 94 – Outside nearly 100 degrees Heat Index and today worse – [Inside air Dry becuz we have run this]
Frigidaire FAD504TDD 50-Pint Dehumidifier, White
Set into a WEST window as no other option – Shaded or Northside window Mfg. recommended.
Using 12 inch tabletop fan in front about 3ft to circulate. Keeping that in mind we ran only 12 hrs HI settings and only 10kWh Total total usage overnight for this / 5 is normal – will give a 24 hr read tomorrow [25th] – so having really dry air [Humidity RH-40 INSIDE] relieves the strain of extracting indoor humidity and helps the unit cool faster – as well as after initially sucking gallons and gallons out of air w/the Dehumidifier of 3 wks ago, we are very pleased with that as it runs only when needed now to maintain indoor humidity.
Two room thermometers reading 91/88 before using A/C – 6:30 AM temps in just over 165 sq ft/ are now 78/74 – It earned its keep in just that – will be running high all day today and no doubt wknd as here in SWVA it is ‘oppresive’ –
All in all w/this update [now 5 stars] and short trial – We would recommend – for a ‘small space’ By Fitting foam [some Mfg included*] and added foam M-D Building Products 2311 High Density Foam Tape, 1/2-by-3/4-Inch by 10 feet, Gray[Great winter door and window seal also]
seals off any possible HOT/humid ‘AIR U can wear!’ as well as any ‘bugs’ leaking in.
