Excellent product, very easy to use and makes uniform burgers for the grill and the dimple in the middle ensures there is no “plumping up” in the middle.
When we make them we lay a sheet of plastic wrap underneath with half hanging over, make the paddy, flip it over and fold the other half of the plastic wrap and its sealed ready for storage or keeps the burgers from sticking together. Very quick without a mess.
Super nice invention!

The press produces just over 4.5″ diameter burgers and are just perfect for fitting buns. You can obviously make them as thick as you like.
After reading some of the other reviews, I have a couple of comments.
- The Dimple is important. Have you ever noticed that burgers tend to “dome” up while cooking? The dimple prevents this from happening. This explains why Costco has a hole in the middle of their pre-pattied burgers. If they didn’t, the burgers would end up like a baseball. The thicker the patty, the greater the “dome” effect.
- This press is dishwasher safe. Need I say anything else.
- The removable dimple insert is a great addition. After pressing, simply remove and flip your patty where ever you want it.
- Regarding meat, I would highly recommend from ground chuck. If you must used ground beef, you want at least 15% fat to give it some flavor.
- Although the press is made of plastic, it’s plenty sturdy enough to press a patty.
Great press. Definitely worth the $5 amazon has it listed at.

Unless someone has little or no experience making good firm round burgers by hand, I would say avoid this purchase. I’m pretty good at it, but I thought this little unit would produce good results and save time.
Problems: hamburger meat sticks to the dimple side, tearing away at the bottom of the burger and requiring several re-presses.
Unless making a pretty thick burger, this unit does not press out the meat where it holds together unless you press, shape by hand, and repress, sometimes repeating several times.
Sometimes hamburger meat sticks to the top of the plastic press as well, again, pulling away the part of the burger meat and making rough, torn places on the top of the burger. Again, to correct – reshape patty by hand, replace in press and press again until uniformity and size are acceptable.
Also, when burgers are pressed in this unit, the outer edges of the burger have rough, uneven places, meaning the burger is not going to be sealed on the edges the way you can achieve by pinching the edges with your fingers toward the center. Solution, press in unformed edges, insert into unit and re-press.
Not only were there absolutely no instructions either on the box or included as an insert, but you can go to the manufacturer’s site and see they don’t provide any instructions at all. Helpful tips could have been how much meat placed in the press makes the best burger. I find that the best shaped burgers only form when using a whopping amount of meat – thinner burgers just don’t shape up at all. And even the thick burgers have problems forming or sticking as mentioned in this review.
So if you like a monster burger (where all you can eat is 1) this unit is acceptable if you can’t make a burger by hand very quickly or efficiently. I like big burgers – but these are so thick I’m guessing 1/2 lb each? or 1/3 maybe.
If I had a chance to purchase again, I would not. I’ll go back to making burgers by hand rather than – press, shape by hand, repress, repeat until burger is uniform, which is the machine procedure.

This Burger Press is a Great product. you can really make some massive burgers with this press and squeeze them good. although i recommend spreading a little cooking oil of some kind (i used extra virgin olive oil) inside the press before use to help prevent sticking. and if you don’t use the indention plate below the patty, they can be hard to remove. overall i recommend this product. its a really good bargain.
